INFO GATHERING

This research work does not include any texts from Ivan Rodionov's "Chronology of the Aviation and Aircraft Industry of Russia and the Soviet Union, 1906 to 1946," nor in Keith Dexter and Ivan Rodionov “The factories, research and design establishments of the Soviet defence industry: a guide.”

All the information was gathered from public sources, in a research work which spans from 1998, from the archives of the Russian Federation, initially grouped into conversations on specific topics. For example, if an aircraft designer was commissioned to develop a new type of fighter. The author tried to make the translation as accurate as possible, ordering the information in a chronology of events, but as human he makes mistakes, and, possibly, not all the information appears in the most orderly way. The author tried to contextualise the conversation, for example a start date, but said conversation is dilated in time so the reader must accept that there may be date jumps in the same document, and it may cause comprehension problems if the reader doesn't read carefully. He thanks the readers in advance for their understanding.

Referring to the list of aeronautical factories, the author uses the information expressed in the archives of the Russian Federation to make a table of the Soviet factories by month, in a cumulative manner, so that the reader can realise the evacuations, transfers of materiel and means, as a whole.

Referring to the air orders of battle (AOB), the author planned to include monthly Soviet Aviation AOB's thanks to Mr. Argüelles-Martínez superb collaboration, although his research work focuses on the aviation industry, its developments and combat tests in selected units. The author cannot tackle a work of such magnitude at including a complete OB’s because it would be endless, and because Mr. Argüelles-Martinez has already published a superb research work that deals with the topic in a deep and accurate manner.
